The Samurai CIPP/E Success

With the news of a public health crisis due to COVID-19 (in January), Samurai decided to work from home in order to limit any unnecessary contact. I, myself, was supposed to be travelling the wonderful terrain of New Zealand, however that aside, I get to write about a bit of good news in Samurai’s team, after taking the CIPP/E exam.

I’m proud to say I passed, and Samurai now has a data protection consultant who is a Certified Information Privacy Professional in Europe (CIPP/E), certified through the IAPP. Now, I’ll happily take any opportunity for a little brag, but I can’t stress enough how difficult this exam felt when. As you can imagine I’m very happy with the results.

I was lucky enough to be employed by Samurai and trained up directly after completing my MSc, I can honestly say if it hadn’t been for the opportunity to work closely with my knowledgeable team, and has I not been exposed to GDPR for almost 4 years, I would not have faired well in the exam.

There were plenty of resources on the IAPP’s website here, which outlined what they were looking for and an exam blueprint. Most of the information I had was around data protection compliance and GDPR, so the majority of my research went into the European institutions and legislation sections. (For anyone looking to take this exam, the recommended 30 hours is advisory, however, I put in quite a bit more.)

The knowledge I had around GDPR was already a huge help, as the questions were mainly around the regulations, complying with requirements and rights of subjects, as outlined in the exam body of knowledge, along with questions around European institutions and European data protection.

For any organisations out that want to be sure that they are getting information from a reputable source, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We are able to provide all your data protection and GDPR needs, including training your employees on the correct way of processing and sharing, acting as a third party DPO or even providing bespoke documents to comply with GDPR.

If anyone out there has any requests for certifications or would like to see their Data Protection/Security teams trained, you know where we are.

As always, if anyone has any questions or wants to reach out, please get in touch!
